Grooving for a Worthy Cause

Grooving for a Worthy Cause

On the 27th of May Worthy Cause welcomed 247 music lovers, cookie enthusiasts and all round lovely people to the Leadbeater Hotel for a night of tunes, baked goods and fundraising!
Rapper KP Hydes kicked off the night with his funky, GoldLink-esque sound that has been gaining traction since the release of “Hypnotise Me” in 2019. Following KP was Al Matcott taking us on a journey with his lyric heavy, narrative-driven songs. Before closing off the live music portion of the night, we drew everyones favourite thing - a raffle! I was very much in it to win it and had my eye on the Worthy Cause apron (so cute) and cookie mix (so yummy). Slingers frontman Christian helped WC founder Rick draw the winners. Prizes included a $200 voucher from our sponsors Lucas Group restaurants (think Chin Chin, Kisumé), a Mountain Goat brewery voucher, a WC merch pack and a signed copy of “Sentimentalism”, The Slingers debut album. I managed to win the signed vinyl (!!!) and, despite being a devout Slingers fan for years now, decided to gift it to another fan in the crowd (aww). Following the raffle we witnessed friends of WC The Slingers in all their alt-country meets karate kicking meets acoustic deep cuts glory. Finishing off the gig was Promo, helping us boogie the night away.

The benefit was a huge success! We danced, we sung and we raised $10,538, every cent of which will go towards helping vulnerable people feel empowered in developing life long skills. Thank you to all the artists, sponsors volunteers and venue staff for helping out on the night, and a special thanks to everyone who showed their support by coming along! We can’t wait to see you again soon.
